Online game developer Changyou.com Limited (CYOU) announced that its board of directors declared a special one-time cash dividend of US$1.9 per Class A or Class B ordinary share, or US$3.8 per American Depositary Share. The total amount of the special cash dividend is approximately US$201 million. CYOU is trading at $23.84 for a special dividend yield of 16%. CYOU reported Q2 earnings per ADS of $1.29, topping estimates for $1.12. Revenue for the quarter came in at $147.3 million, in-line with expectations.
Despite China’s broader economy facing one of the worst slowdowns in years, China’sonline advertising revenues have been surprisingly strong. According to Analysys, a research firm, total revenue increase 54 percent in the second quarter when compared with the year ago quarter.
