As income investors, we seek to create consistent monthly income by selling options to collect monthly premiums. This has been successful for our investors for years. Option selling offers another method to diversify investing strategies beyond traditional dividend investing. We have combined technical stock events with our strategy to identify high returns option selling opportunities. This income trade will generate a return of 5.8% using the forward month options.

Stock: Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NXST) operates as a television broadcasting and digital media company in the United States. It focuses on the acquisition, development, and operation of television stations and interactive community Websites in medium-sized markets. The company will report earnings on August 8.

A “Symmetrical Continuation Triangle (Bullish)” chart pattern formed on Nexstar Media Group Inc (NXST). This bullish signal indicates that the price may rise from the close of 61.75 to the range of 73.00 – 76.00. The pattern formed over 55 days which is roughly the period of time in which the target price range may be achieved.

A Symmetrical Continuation Triangle (Bullish) is considered a bullish signal, indicating that the current uptrend may continue. The formation occurs because prices are reaching both lower highs and higher lows. The technical event occurs when the price breaks out of the triangle formation to close above the upper (descending) trendline, thereby confirming the pattern.

The RSI is above 50. The PMO is above its signal line and positive. The PMO is breaking above its zero level to indicate further upside. Moreover, the stock is above its 20 and 50 day MA (respectively at 60.04 and 59.91).

Strategy: We want to sell a covered call on NXST using the August 2017 65 Call. For each 100 shares of NXST stock you buy, sell one August 65 covered call option for a $61.45 ($63.25 – $1.80) debit or better. That’s potentially a 5.8% assigned return with a 3.0% downside protection. If you want more downside protection, you can purchase an August 60 PUT for less than $0.25 per option.

For PUT writers wanting to lower their cost of entering this position. You can sell a August 65 PUT option for $3.70. That’s a potential return of return of 6.0%.

Investors should consider taking profits early as the stock price moves higher toward the $65 option strike price and exit if there is a pull back below support levels. You can use the PCD strategy if you want to use this stock for Monthly Income.

This is a higher risk trade than we normally place in the Monthly Income Report. However, this is a nice setup with a positive merger announcement, positive technical confirmation and increased premium from selling options for income.

Know the Rules of Investing

In a recent interview, Tony Robbins stated he has coached a successful trader for more than 20 years. The person he is talking about is Paul Tudor Jones, one of the most successful investors of all time and owner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. Robbins found Jones, and other wealthy, successful people like him, were constantly looking to learn more about money. He stated:

It isn’t about the money! That’s why I call it ‘MONEY: Master the Game, his latest book.’ It is a game. A lot of people get offended by that, like ‘Oh my God! How could he call it a game?’ It is. “The wealthiest people in the world know it’s a game, and the reason they succeed is they know it’s a game. They know there’s certain rules. If you know the rules, you can win and if you don’t you’re gonna lose. Rather than be pissed about it, learn. “

I agree in being successful requires knowing the rules of the game. In my perspective, the rules are the trading plan – designing a strategy and knowing when to enter and exit a trade. At Get Rich Investments, we focus on producing income each month. To be consistent, e follow a set of rules we have learned from over 20 years of investing. The markets are always changing due to events, direction trends and volatility, This is why our income strategy incorporates several options to be successful. These strategies allow our members to be agile and to profit regardless of market sentiment and volatility.

Some investors are comfortable earning a 3-4% dividend yield to meet their income needs. If you seek more return, then join our income plan to earn 10-15% in income each year. We focus on world class stocks with nice dividend payments. But we juice our returns by collecting option income in addition to dividends. This strategy works with all sizes of account amounts- you don’t need a million to started. And, the sooner you get compounded your returns the more income you can create each month.

Put Your Money to Work

To start on the road to financial dependence, you must save some money. Most people start with an emergency fund, retirement account such as a 401K and maybe buy some real estate for rental income. Then, smart investors start creating additional streams of income. At Get Rich Investments, we like to buy world-class dividend stocks, CEFs paying money distributions and sell options for premium income. In today’s investing environment, you can no longer keep your money in near zero savings account or certificates of deposits.

“The only reason to save money is to invest it,” writes Grant Cardone, who went from broke and in debt at 21 to self-made millionaire by 30. “Put your saved money into secured, sacred (untouchable) accounts. Never use these accounts for anything, not even an emergency.”

While always subject to a degree of risk, investing is one of the most effective ways to earn more money. As Ramit Sethi writes in his bestseller, “I Will Teach You to Be Rich,” “on average, millionaires invest 20% of their household income each year. Their wealth isn’t measured by the amount they make each year, but by how they’ve saved and invested over time.”

Why would an investor sell put options instead of just buying the stock? You already know my response to this question – to create monthly income. There are several reasons investors should include put writing as a portion of their investment portfolio. Here is my list:

First and foremost is to create income. In this case, we are looking to collect the cash premium from selling the put option and not necessarily purchase the stock. This concepts is very important to better understand. My initial objective is capturing the premium but I realize in some cases the stock will be put to me. This is why I only sell puts on a select list of stocks I am willing to own if put to me. I like to focus on world class stocks that have stable earnings, strong balance sheets, pay growing dividends and trade within a low beta range in the market. This is part of my success using this strategy as I can collect dividends and sell covered calls for more income if the stock is put to me.

This is how I put my money to work. Join me in creating multiple streams of incomes to live the life you desire.

A Covered Call Trade on Microsoft

Investor sentiment turned strongly bearish recently as emerging markets were hit by both country-specific problems and the realization that the Fed’s trimmed bond-buying program reduces the liquidity that has boosted higher-yielding emerging market assets and put a floor under U.S. stock prices.

The broad selloff in emerging markets over the recent weeks translated into the worst week for global stocks in seven months. The S&P 500 slid 2.6 percent, its largest weekly decline since June 2012.  Still, the S&P 500 is just 3.1 percent below its record closing high.  If the bears stay put, then the market could pull back over the coming months.

Due to the selling on Wall Street, investors were willing to pay more for spot protection against a drop in the S&P 500.  At this time, investors are concerned a market pullback may be overdue.

Investors should consider looking at blue chip stocks with low betas, nice dividend yields and sell some calls for downside protection and additional income.  A good choice is Microsoft (MSFT) with a current dividend yield of 2.77 percent and a beta of only 0.78.  In addition, the Company just beat earnings estimate and year over year earnings.

For the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, revenue rose 14% to $24.52 billion, partly reflecting the release in November of a new Xbox videogame console and a fresh version of Microsoft’s

Surface tablet computer ahead of the holidays.

Overall, net income climbed to $6.56 billion, or 78 cents a share, compared with $6.38 billion, or 76 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.  Analysts, on average, estimated Microsoft would post earnings of 68 cents a share on revenue of $23.7 billion, according to Thomson Reuters.

The company said its devices and consumer revenue grew 13% to $11.91 billion, while commercial revenue increased 10% to $12.67 billion.

On November 19, 2013 the board of directors at Microsoft had approved a dividend of $0.28 per share. The dividend is payable on March 13, 2014 to shareholders of record on February 20, 2014.

The stock has landed on the “Jefferies Highest Conviction Franchise Picks for Big Upside in 2014.”  Jeffries had this to say about Microsoft in this report, “With the Xbox One poised to be one of the fastest selling gaming consoles ever, the fourth-quarter sales for the company were outstanding. Investors are paid a very solid 3.1% dividend. The Jefferies price target for the software giant is $42.”

Last week, analysts at Deutsche Bank have upgraded their coverage of Microsoft to a Buy rating from a Hold, while raising their price target on the stock to $40 from $32 a share.

Also, Microsoft has an equity summary score of 9.4 out of 10 for a very bullish outlook according to a consensus of analysts.

Investors can look at selling a call option to get some downside protection and additional premium for income.  The basics of a covered call is that an investor can sell one call for every 100 shares of stock owned.

One potential covered call trade is to sell the March or April 2014 38 call option.  Under this scenario, your Microsoft shares will be called away if the stock price is above the strike price of 38 on March 22. So the investor is giving away the stock price upside as long as they are short the call.

However, investors will receive a call premium for each call sold.  This gives the investor downside protection to around the $36 price level.  Investors will also get the $0.28 dividend.  In total, this covered call trade with the cash dividend can potentially create a 5% return over the next 2 months.

The Right Chemistry for Growth and Income with 42% Upside Potential

What more can an income investor want than a dividend growing at 35% per year and price upside potential of 42% in the coming year.  This is exactly what is possible to owners of Celanese Corp. (NYSE: CE), a global producer of industrial chemicals.  While the current dividend yield is only 1.0%, it will likely continue to grow as EPS is projected to increase 14% in the next year.

The Company has increased its dividends by 140% in the past year and boasts of a 5-year average annual dividend growth rate of 35.1% per year.  The current payout ratio is 21.24%.  Celanese announced a 100% increase in the company’s quarterly common stock dividend on July 25, 2013.  The dividend rate increased from $0.09 to $0.18 per share of common stock on a quarterly basis and from $0.36 to $0.72 per share of common stock on an annual basis.

Celanese posted adjusted EPS of $1.20 per share in Q3, up from a $1.12 gain during the same quarter last year and beating the Capital IQ consensus by $0.05 per share.  Revenue for the manufacturer of thermoplastic polymers slid 1.0% year over year to $1.64 billion, roughly in-line with analyst forecasts.

Looking forward, CE said it expects per-share earnings to continue growing during FY14 through new products and productivity improvement.  Celanese has expanded its polyacetal manufacturing footprint in Asia through investments in joint venture projects in Malaysia, Korea, and Saudi Arabia.  The company signed manufacturing agreements with Malaysia’s Polyplastics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd, Korea’s Korea Engineering Plastics, and Saudi Arabia’s Ibn Sina.

We think Celanese can generate above-average revenue growth from geographic expansion and the development of new applications for its products. Due to its size, CE also enjoys a cost advantage in many of its markets. We believe the engineered plastics business has solid long-term growth fundamentals, and that acetate tow remains a stable cash-generating business. Additionally, the European economy seems poised for gradual recovery in 2014.

We look for operating EPS to rise to $4.55 this year, from $3.80 in 2012. Further growth is expected in 2014, with EPS forecast to reach $5.20.   Based on a PE of 15, the 12 month target price is projected to be $78, an increase of 42% from current trading levels.  The Stock has an equity summary score of 8.6out of 10 for a Bullish outlook among analyst.

Celanese Corp. is a global producer of industrial chemicals and has the number  one or two market share in a majority of its products.  Celanese strives to focus its businesses in areas where it has a clear and sustainable competitive advantage to generate long-term earnings growth.  It also continually seeks to optimize its business portfolio to achieve industry, cost and technology leadership while expanding its product mix into higher value-added products. CE’s geographically balanced global footprint is another aspect of its strategy that should fuel future earnings growth, and its global presence is aligned with the current and expected growth of its customers.

The strong cash flow results allowed Celanese to more actively utilize their balance sheet, deploying$96 millionof cash in the quarter to purchase approximately 2 million shares.  Celanese also maintained a cash balance of$1.1 billionand net debt balance of less than$2.0 billion.

The company will cease all manufacturing operations and associated activities at the acetic anhydride plant in Roussillon and at the vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) unit in Tarragona by the end of 2013, and Celanese will proceed to decommission both facilities.

The need for these closure projects emerged from an assessment of Celanese’s overall corporate strategy, which included an assessment of the company’s global manufacturing facilities. Specifically, in support of the company’s acetyl portfolio, the manufacturing footprint strategy favors integrated production sites that provide critical economies of scale.  Celanese expects savings from these closures to be in the range of US $20-30 million in 2014.

Here is a Nice Dividend Capture for July

For investors looking to book a solid dividend, Himax Technology (NASDAQ: HIMX) is the place to be in July.  Himax Technology has a current dividend yield of 4.78%.  On June 17, 2013 the board of directors approved a dividend of $0.25 per share.  The dividend is payable on July 31, 2013 to shareholders of record on July 19, 2013.

The stock has recently pulled back to $5.22 and presents a nice dividend capture strategy as HIMX pays an annual dividend.  Himax has an equity summary score of 9.8 out of 10 for a VERY Bullish outlook.  The stock has a 12-month price target of $8.40.  The stock is up 188% in the past year.

HIMX is growing solidly, and has shown this by beating Q1 earnings estimates, despite the fact that last quarter was the slow quarter for most Asian companies.  Himax also expanded its profit margin by 5%. This stock’s growth should only continue with the massive amount of news catalysts on the horizon.

Himax recently announced the closing of the previously announced underwritten offering by selling shareholder Innolux Corporation (“Innolux”) of 25,399,753 American Depositary Shares (“ADSs”), including 3,313,011 ADSs sold pursuant to the underwriters’ over-allotment option. The underwriters have exercised in full their over-allotment option to purchase the 3,313,011 ADSs. Immediately following the closing, Innolux has ceased to be the Company’s shareholder. The Company did not sell any ADSs in the offering and did not receive any proceeds from the offering. Innolux’s sale of the ADSs will not result in dilution of the Company’s outstanding shares.

MRO – Look for a 49% Price Gain

David Kostin, Goldman Sachs’ chief U.S. equity strategist, provides us with a list of stocks with the most upside potential in his new Monthly Chartbook.   Kostin notes early May was solid for the S&P 500, but cited month-end drags in telecom services and utilities (-7 and -9 percent, respectively).  Nevertheless, he projects the S&P will end up 7.3% by year end, at 1750.

One stock on the Goldman list to watch is Marathon Oil (MRO).  The stock is up 39% in the past year but Goldman Sachs is projecting an increase of 49% in the stock.  In addition, Marathon offers a 1.96% dividend yield.

Production grew 8% (excluding Libya; 48 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day; MBOE/d) in 2012, to 388 MBOE/d. MRO expects development at U.S. onshore plays to drive a 7%-10% production boost in 2013 (ex Libya and Alaska), to 405-425 MBOE/d, and a 5%-7% production CAGR (compound annual growth rate) through 2017. MRO believes these assets are 80% liquids. We expect a lower planned 2013 rig count, made possible by drilling efficiencies, to keep cost inflation down. Since the fourth quarter 2012, Eagle Ford and Bakken production are up 22% and 6%, respectively. MRO is ending shale activity in Poland on weak tests.

MRO spun off its downstream business to shareholders in a tax-free transaction in mid-2011. We had been looking for reduced refining contributions over the next five years and believe greater exposure to upstream projects in new international and U.S. onshore basins will drive upstream growth at lower operating costs. MRO’s streamlined asset base (75% oil, based on reserves) is one of the higher-content liquids portfolios among domestic E&P companies. Operations in Libya resumed in late 2011 and MRO is looking to ramp up production there. MRO lowered its onshore U.S. rigs to about 25 as of October 2012, versus 34 rigs earlier in 2012, in response to lower prices.

MRO’s growth assets are where it expects to make significant investment in order to realize oil and gas production and reserve increases. It is focused on U.S. growth by developing liquids-rich shale play positions, a strong position in the core of the Eagle Ford shale. In addition, growth assets include the development of Angola Block 31, discoveries in Iraqi Kurdistan, select Gulf of Mexico blocks and Canadian in-situ assets. Exploration is focused on Poland, Iraqi Kurdistan, Norway and the Gulf of Mexico. MRO had a goal of divesting between $1.5 billion and $3.0 billion of non-core assets between 2011 and 2013. For the two-year period ended December 31, 2012 , it had entered into agreements for approximately $1.3 billion in divestitures, of which $785 million were completed. The remaining $545 million in asset sales were completed by February 22, 2013

We see 2013 and 2014 EPS of $2.76 and $3.35, respectively, versus $2.45 (adjusted) in 2012.

PSA has a current dividend yield of 3.28% with a 5-year annual dividend growth rate of 20%.

The REIT, which owns self-storage facilities, has benefited from industry consolidation, giving it an advantage advertising-wise and allowing it to gain market share. The company’s top-line results rebounded in the second half of last year, after four consecutive quarters of weaker earnings.

During the three months endedDecember 31, 2012, PSA acquired ten self-storage facilities (761,000 net rentable square feet of self-storage space and additional space that we intend to convert into 220,000 net rentable square feet of storage space for an additional cost of$15 million), located inFlorida(three),Georgia(two),California(two) and one each inArizona,New YorkandTexas, for an aggregate acquisition cost of approximately$82 millionin cash.

We are encouraged with the better-than-expected results at Public Storage. We believe that the company is well poised to maintain its growth curve backed by its robust presence in all the major markets in the U.S.

It is the leading owner and operator of storage facilities in the U.S. and has significantly increased the scale and scope of its operations through the acquisition of Shurgard Storage Centers that has a considerable presence in the European markets.

It also owns a 41% common equity interest in PS Business Parks Inc. (PSB), which owns and operates commercial space, primarily flex, multi-tenant office and industrial space. In addition, the storage facilities of the company have high visibility and are usually located in heavily populated areas that enhance the local awareness of the brand.
